2014 Maple Tour

On your bike! Les Produits d’érable du Québec and the Fédération des sports cyclistes du Québec are inviting you to join us as we kick off the 2014 cyclosportive season with a celebration of sport and gastronomy. On May 17 and 18, the weekend before National Patriots' Day, the Tours de l’érable will take cyclists and families on an enchanting ride through the maple groves of Quebec's North Shore.

This family-friendly weekend, aimed at enthusiasts of food, physical exercise and the outdoors, promises a 100% maple experience.

The Tours de l’érable will be a feast for all the senses and includes:

  • a cycling race for cyclists competing in the men's and women's Junior, Senior and Masters categories. This race will be part of Team Quebec's team selection trials for certain categories
  • a cyclosportive with two choices of marked course (45 km, 65 km or 102 km) through Quebec's forests and maple groves. Everyone will find a speed group to suit their preferred energy level
  • an educational maple grove foot rally for 6 to 15 year olds, but open to everyone

After the cyclosportive and foot rally, you will be invited to enjoy a delicious maple-based meal that has been specially designed to help athletes recover after physical exercise. The food has been developed and prepared by Maple Master and renowned chef Danny St Pierre with sports nutritionist Mélanie Olivier.

Have brunch before setting off! For an additional $19, a gourmet brunch designed by Danny St Pierre and Mélanie Olivier will be served at the event. This energizing brunch will provide athletes with optimal nutrition for sustained physical activity.

You will also get the chance to meet our sports spokesman and swimmer Benoît Huot, who is a member of Canada's national Paralympics team. Benoît is one of our most decorated Paralympic athletes. Winner of 48 medals at the World Championships and Paralympic Games, he has broken more than 50 world swimming records in his category. "Cycling is an important part of my training. In fact, I cycle nearly 4,000 km per year," admits Benoît.
