Maple Croustade and Orchard Fruits


Ingredients
  • 500 ml (2 cups) orchard fruits (apples, pears, peaches, plums, etc.), peeled, seeded or cored and sliced
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ml (1/2 teaspoon) ground cinnamon
  • 1 ml (1/4 teaspoon) nutmeg
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) maple syrup

Crust

  • 170 ml (2/3 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 170 ml (2/3 cup) oatmeal flakes
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) maple sugar
  • 1 ml (1/4 teaspoon) nutmeg
  • 1 ml (1/4 teaspoon) ground cinnamon
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) unsalted butter at room temperature

Method
  1. Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F);
  2. In a buttered baking dish, combine the fruits, flour and spices;
  3. Add the maple syrup to the fruits. Set aside;
  4. Prepare the crust. In a bowl, mix the flour, the oatmeal, maple sugar and spices. Stir in the butter;
  5. Pour the oat mixture over the fruit and squeeze the preparation with the back of a spoon to even the surface;
  6. Bake in the center of oven for 40 to 50 minutes. Serve with ice cream.
